Located in the northwest of Spain, Rias Baixas is Galician for "lower estuaries". It is one of the most well-known parts of Galicia, a main wine region of Spain. Containing its own five sub-regions; Val do Salnés, Ribeira do Ulla, Soutomaior, O Rosal and Condado do Tea. All these sub regions are prone to getting cool, wet, sunny maritime climate and the acidic soils make crisp, minerally wines. Ninety percent of the regions vineyards are of the Albariño variety. This regions sub regions each have their own characteristics. Val do Salnés wines are quite minerally, Condado do Tea are more fruity with peachy aromas and wines from O Rosal tend to be blended a lot with varieties like Treixadura.
