Ar.pe.pe's wine grows on the steep granite slopes of Montagna, Valtellina Superiore DOCG. Their 2018 Rosso di Valtellina is one of my go-to reds at the moment.
I get such a kick out of drinking this high altitude nebbiolo - for both the labour of love behind it and how drinkable it is. This nebbiolo hails from the Italian mountains, where the Perego family tend to their 13 hectares of terraced vineyards by hand, as they have done for the last 5 generations. Their deep respect for this unique terrior is sensually present through its floral, fruity bouquet and its' elegant palate. A delicate, light, fruity nebbiolo with subtle tannins - a wine that hits the mark in any situation, for me at least!
