Truly the ‘Best in the West’ when it comes to Riesling! There is not a bad Riesling coming out of Frankland River but for a real treat you must try the new 2020 ‘Alter Weg’ Riesling from Frankland Estate. This wine having so many layers and complexities it is a wonder how they fit in the glass. The chief winemaker Brian Kent is an expert when it comes to all things Riesling, and for him 2020 was an exceptional vintage, unfortunate the yields were low however the result lead to an even higher quality wine. The moment the wine is in the glass it has an inviting aroma of white peach, apricot, white flowers, almond, honeyed-yogurt and a most comforting smell of rain hitting stone. It is incredibly bright and clean on the palate with a wonderful lingering complexity of stone fruit and a textural grip that just keeps you thinking and drinking. This is a wine to RUN AND BUY, because there just won’t be enough to go around with me drinking it!
