THE VARIETY

Xinomavro

The Xinomavro grape can be found growing in central and northern Greece, under the Protected Designation of Origins of Naoussa, Amynteo, Goumenissa, and Rapsani. The essence of the Xinomavro character can be found in the complex, distinct aromas of red fruits, flowers, tomatoes, olives, dried prunes, tobacco, nuts and subtle hints of spices. It is complex and intricate, yet delicate, and an ideal accompaniment to foods with intense and rich flavours.
THE REGION

Naoussa

Naoussa (or Naousa) is a Protected Designation of Origin wine appellation based in the hills of Macedonia, in northern Greece. This region has slight climatic influences from the Mediterranean, however has a continental climate with colder winters, areas with high winds, rain, and snowfall in the mountains. Naoussa grows grapes used for both red and white wine. White wine from the region is predominantly made with Malagousia and Assyrtiko grapes, and Xinomavro being the main grape used for making red wine.
