THE VARIETY
Sangiovese
Hailing from the famous region of Chianti, Sangiovese is one of Italy’s pre-eminent varietals. Traditionally it is medium-bodied, has vibrant acidity and characteristic notes of sour cherry, red current, and spice. Generally it pairs well with steak, rich chicken, mushroom dishes or, of course, anything with tomato sauce.
THE REGION
Canberra District
The Canberra wine district is located within 30 minutes of Canberra. The geographically diverse region produces some of Australia’s most loved cool climate Shiraz, Viognier, Pinot Noir, Riesling and Chardonnay. New excitement is sweeping through the region as established winemakers are joined by a new generation of winemakers setting the scene for a future of new varietals that will increase the region’s fame through the decades ahead.
