THE VARIETY
Sangiovese
Hailing from the famous region of Chianti, Sangiovese is one of Italy’s pre-eminent varietals. Traditionally it is medium-bodied, has vibrant acidity and characteristic notes of sour cherry, red current, and spice. Generally it pairs well with steak, rich chicken, mushroom dishes or, of course, anything with tomato sauce.
THE REGION
Tuscany
Located in central Italy, Tuscany is home to the medieval marvels of Siena, the amazing city of Florence and, of course, the vineyards of Chianti. The region has a varied climate, moving from the warm moderated coastal areas to the rolling hills inland that have a large diurnal range where Sangiovese thrives.
