Escape to Greece With Rockpool’s Kris Ambrozkiewicz and Food Philosopher’s Yianni Stamatiou
The Greek wine scene has been experiencing a renaissance and the most exciting wines are coming from local, ancient varietals like Assyrtiko and Xinomavro. These wines have undergone a makeover and their edge has seen their demand soar on the international market, and it’s only natural that the cuisine has followed its lead.
In our first specialty Greek masterclass we’ll be featuring a superb line-up of Greek wines alongside individual, home-made grazing platters. This collaborative event will be co-hosted by The Food Philosopher’s founder Yianni Stamatiou and Rockpool’s in-house Sommelier, Kris Ambrozkiewicz. Both lovers of Greek food, wine and culture, Yianni and Kris will guide you through a playful and informative evening giving you a taste of regional Greece, leaving you feeling indulged and inspired to experience more of Greece!
Kris and Yianni are experts in their fields and have an impressive backgrounds and array of experience.
Kris has not only been a Sommelier at Rockpool for 7 years, he’s also a winemaker with extensive world-wide experience across Australia, New Zealand, France and the USA. In between making wine and his commitments at Rockpool, Kris runs his own wine distribution company, Vinous Matters. He has an impressive portfolio focusing on leading producers including those from the islands of Santorini, Crete and mainland Greece.
Yianni launched The Food Philosopher in 2017 and its under this name he supplies products that boast authenticity and embrace his Greek heritage. Yianni has personally created an exceptional range of genuine, farm-direct, small-batch products that pay homage to his own rich childhood food experiences.
