Umbria

Near Tuscany and right above Rome is the lesser-known and travelled region of Umbria. The region is surrounded by rolling green hills and medieval hilltop villages. Viticulture here dates back nearly 3000 years. The Mediterranean climate is ideal for varieties like Grechetto, Trebbiano, Sagrantino, Sangiovese, and Colorino. The whites are characterised by being crisp, dry and slightly nutty. On the other hand, the reds are full bodied and full of character.
