The most famous and most planted red grape in Spain! Responsible for making incredible intense, long-lived and most of Spain’s most famous wines. The dominant grape in Rioja where it is common to blend it with indigenous varietals in the famous Rioja Blend. The wines traditionally produced from this grape are medium- to full-bodied with aromas of strawberry, dark plum, red cherry and bay leaf. The best examples of Tempranillo are coming out of Spain from the regions of Rioja, Ribera del Duero and Toro, with a few producers from around Australia trying their hand at the varietal.
