Puligny-Montrachet is a village in the Côte de Beaune and sub region of Burgundy. This appellation covers red Pinot Noir wines and Chardonnay. Although red wines only account for a small proportion of total yields from this appellation. Chardonnay is produced in great quantities and is known for being one of the finest Chardonnays. The areas' terroir is high in mineral content and layers of limestone can be found underneath the vineyards, this gives the wine a distinct flavour and mineral influence that sets them apart from the neighbouring regions wines.
