Italian Blends
Italian wines come as single varietals and in blends. Like most wine blends some adhere to strict rules while other mix varietals to try balance the flavours to produce something unique for their vineyard. Some examples of blends include two medium bodied red blends; Chianti from Tuscany which follows strict production rules and Amarone from Veneto which is a medium to full-bodied wine. Super Tuscan is a well known full-bodied red blend which features the varietals Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Sangiovese, Syrah, Cabernet Franc. In Veneto they make Soave which is a medium bodied white wine which must be made up to 70% Garganega then the rest Trebbiano, Chardonnay and Pinot Blanc.
